FUNERAL TUESDAY FOR CORINNE S. SHAMEY, 50

The funeral for Corinne S. Shamey, 50, of 8024 Black River Road, wife of William Shaney, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Cleveland-Miller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Thomas Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shamey died at 1:45 p.m. Friday at the home of her father-in-law, Peter Shamey, Route 12, after a long illness.

Surviving besides her husband are her mother, Mrs. Ruth Runion, Holly Hill, Fla.; two sons, Matthew and Timothy, both of Watertown; a daughter, Rebecca, Watertown; two brothers, John Runion, Binghamton, and Steven Runion, Sherburne; four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Williford, Smithfield, N.C., Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Millspaugh, Newburgh, Mrs. Joseph (Sarita) Fiske, Morris, and Mrs. Fred (Valerie) Jones, Emporia, Kan., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Shamey was born Jan. 20, 1938, in New Berlin, a daughter of Alfred and Ruth Eausau Runion. She was graduated from New Berlin High School in 1956 and attended Fredonia State University College.

She married William Shamey on July 3, 1959, in New Berlin Methodist Church.

She was a member and organist for the Christian Science Church, Watertown.

His date of death was Feb. 15, 2007.

 William K. Shamey, 80, of 26858 Route 3, Watertown, died Wednesday at his home, where he was under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.

Mr. Shamey joined the New York State Police in 1956 and transferred in 1959 to the state Department of Environmental Conservation law enforcement division as an officer, retiring Oct. 2, 1996, as a lieutenant.

Born Sept. 24, 1926, in Monaville, W.Va., son of Peter and Mary Kovach Shamey, he graduated from Belleville Central School and served in the Army from 1953 to 1956.

He married Corinne S. Runion on July 3, 1959, in New Berlin. She died May 19, 1989.

Mr. Shamey was a member of the Former Troopers Association, Black Horse Chapter; Army & Navy American Legion Post 61 and the Federal Wildlife Management Association at Fort Drum.

Surviving are two sons, Matthew W., Watertown, and Timothy P., New York City; a daughter, Rebecca Sue Shamey, Watertown, and a sister, Clara B. Ginger, Watertown.

A sister, Elizabeth Coughlin, died before him.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cleveland Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Henderson officiating. Cremation will follow.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In place of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington St., Watertown, N.Y. 13601.
