Warren J. Prentice, 78 , died at his summer home in Pittsfield on June 24, 2017.

He was born in New Berlin on September 6, 1938 to Harry and Winnifred Steere Prentice. He spent his childhood in the New Berlin area and attended and graduated from New Berlin Central School.

He married Theresa McGrath in Walterboro, South Carolina on December 15, 2005 where they live but always enjoyed their summer retreats on the Jack and Anna Reed homestead in the Town of Pittsfield.
Warren worked for many years as the Maintenance Coordinator at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. He also worked as a Department of Environment Conservation Officer and in his spare time loved to do carpentry projects. He was a volunteer at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Caroline.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children: one daughter, Karen Prentice and Brian Arsenault of CA., four sons, Steven and Ann Prentice of VA., James Prentice of Poughkeepsie, NY, Randy and Christine Prentice of Rineback, NY and Aaron Prentice of Watertown, NY. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Unice Prentice and her family. He was pre-deceased by his only brother, Stanley Prentice.

Warren had many lifetime friends in the New Berlin area and enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with them on the phone and during his summer stays in Pittsfield. He developed a close relationship with the Amish Yoder family: providing transportation, working with them on carpentry projects and enjoying their children and family life. Warren was known for his warm and social personality and always found pleasure in meeting people where ever his was.

Warren's parents and my parents were friends and I recall visiting their home when a small child.  So, he was the classmate that I knew the longest since I joined the New Berlin class in 1951.  I will miss you kiddo and our visits.  Donna Boice Davenport.
